"Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try"

Every action that we take starts with a motivation to do so, such as how guys go to the gym and "dress to impress" because they want to meet girls; but what motivates YOU to be successful?

For some it's the desire for nice things like cars, cloths, homes, etc. and for others its the desire to live up to their potential and provide something useful to society. The most important thing is understanding what exactly motivates YOU, harness it, and use it to your advantage to accomplish your goals.

For 2 1/2 years I worked at a wolf and wolf-dog rescue called W.O.L.F, they're mission is to educate the public about the growing issue of wolf and wolf-dog pet ownership and provide sanctuary to abandoned and abused animals. They own about 150 acres in Colorado, and due to irrational fear and misunderstanding by their neighbors, the county restricted them to only care for 30 animals and 5 acres for sanctuary needs. It had been 7 years since the last time they went to court, and we were preparing to go back again to fight these restrictions and request the additional use of 30 acres and the ability to care for a total of 60 animals.

W.O.L.F had ample evidence of their legitimacy and qualifications, support from recognized animal welfare organizations, and a rebuttal for every argument the opposition could propose; their proposal seemed to be airtight, or so I thought. The neighbors of the sanctuary, who the closest of which lived 1/2 a mile down the road, reported their fear for their lives of being eaten, noise from wolves howling, and other fears not backed by evidence or examples; none of which were reported within the last 7 years. W.O.L.F provided counter arguments with fact and scientific evidence, however to no avail, the county commissioners again voted against W.O.L.F's proposal; I was in shock.

Rational thought and reason were trumped by expensive lawyers and land-owner connections. Prior to that day I thought I would be satisfied for the rest of my life living in the woods providing care and sanctuary to these animals; but the second I heard the verdict I realized my new calling, I had to make money. The financial and emotional burden that was put on these people, who work selfless 16-18 hour days for minimum wage and no vacation, could of been avoided. If was a successful entrepreneur/investor I could afford to buy them a new piece of property in a more accepting county, transport the animals, and build the enclosures and structures these animals and employees deserve; the sanctuary of their dreams.

The moment the gavel was struck, I decided I would do whatever it took to achieve wealth so I could come back to financially support them so they would never need to plead for donations or deal with these types of situations again.

That's what motivates me, and I've got their calender and pictures from my stay posted over my desk to remind me of it everyday.

Motivation leads to goals, which inevitably leads to action, which equates to success. What motivates YOU?

Attitude determines outcome
